Established in 1838, the McLaren Vale is known as the birthplace of South Australia's wine industry and home to some of the world's oldest grape vines. With its Mediterranean climate and dry warm winters, the region is known for Australian reds like shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and Grenache and Mediterranean varieties such as Fiano, Vermentino, Tempranillo and Sangiovese. There are more than 88 cellar doors in McLaren Vale and the majority are small family-run operations and boutique wineries. The best way to get to know the area is with a day-long tour and wine tastings at two cellar doors overlooking the vineyards and rolling hills of the Adelaide countryside. Along the way, you'll discover why the region is highly regarded and meet the locals who are passionate about what they do. Then, take a bite out of McLaren Vale with lunch accompanied by a glass of wine at a local restaurant.

Special Notes:

The legal drinking age in Australia is 18 years of age, guests under this age can participate in the tour but may not consume alcohol.
