For food lovers and aspiring chefs, enjoy a hands-on traditional clay pot cooking class at the charming Masurina Lodge. Depart the wharf and travel through Alotau township to the lodge, where you'll be welcomed with a refreshing drink before heading to the kitchen to meet your local chef.
Get ready to roll up your sleeves and assist in preparing a delicious local meal using age-old clay pot cooking methods. This interactive class offers insight into Papua New Guinean culinary traditions and a chance to show off your cooking skills.
While the meal simmers, explore the lodge's small WWII exhibit, which highlights the region's role in the Battle of Milne Bay-a pivotal moment where Allied forces halted the Japanese advance across the Pacific.
Once the food is ready, enjoy your culinary creation in the comfort of the air-conditioned dining room. After lunch, you'll have the option to relax at the bar (own expense) or take a swim.
For those wanting more leisure time, optional return shuttles will be available later, offering flexibility to enjoy the lodge before heading back to the ship.
Special Notes:
This is a cooking instructional course where guests will assist in preparation of aspects of the meal but not cook the whole meal by themselves.Walking during this tour will be over a number of surfaces including grassed, earth and gravel surfaces. Pathways may be uneven surfaces with some steps.
Guests with visual or hearing impairments must travel with a companion at all times. This tour is not suitable for guests who utilise a wheelchair, or those with limited mobility.
Order of sights visited may vary and itinerary may be reversed.
