Kuranda Scenic Railway
Built between 1886 to 1891 to connect Cairns with the North Queensland goldfields, the railway offers sights of deep gorges and rugged mountains, taking you past magnificent waterfalls, through 15 tunnels and across 37 bridges on your journey up the Kuranda Ranges, which is part of Barron Gorge National Park.

Keep your camera ready for a photo stop at Barron Falls Lookout. The lookout offers spectacular views of Barron Falls cascading over 800 feet through the Kuranda rainforest.

Kuranda Village is home to an extraordinary number of artists and craft workers, exotically handcrafted goods, Aboriginal artifacts, fine art, photographs, jewelry and pottery.
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
As the train winds its way through the World Heritage-Listed rainforest, you'll be treated to a world of wonder. Twelve hundred species of flowering plants, 800 different rainforest trees, spectacular orchids, strangler figs, exotic palms and hundreds of unique creatures inhabit this lush green world.

The train is equipped with bench-style seating and is not air-conditioned. Bring cash or credit cards for additional purchases. Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing suited to the day's conditions. Bring a hat, adequate sun protection and insect repellent. Sequence of tour stops may vary. Guests with visual and/or hearing impairments or travelling in a wheelchair must travel with a companion at all times throughout the tour.Please note the market stalls are open Wednesday to Sunday only.
