Feel Ajaccio's history come to life with a walking tour through its lively Old Town. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, the two-hour tour is limited to a small group of 25 or less. Listen along to tales of the Imperial City that's synonymous with Napoleon Bonaparte as you stroll from the pier past pastel-hued buildings, quaint, narrow streets and the Town Hall, designated a historical monument in 1990. Nearby stands the Maison Napoleon-the site of Napoleon's birthplace in 1768 and now a museum dedicated to the life and times of the Bonaparte family. Just minutes away is Ajaccio Cathedral, the noble landmark where Napoleon was baptized in 1771. From here, you'll walk to market square for samplings of fresh local delicacies. En route to the ship, admire a statue of Napoleon and four lions, just one of the many Napoleon statues dominating Place Foch, Ajaccio's main square.
