Glide across the protected waters around Icy Strait and Port Frederick on a kayak on this exhilarating 2.5-hour adventure. Begin with a short walk along the dock to the kayak center, where you will be given a safety briefing before slipping into your two-person kayak. Single kayaks are available for guests with more experience. Set off, led by a knowledgeable guide, who will teach you about the native culture of the Tlingit and the authentic Alaskan village of Hoonah, as the excursion progresses. While paddling to beautiful Pitt Island and around the Hoonah waterfront, you will have the chance to view humpback and killer whales, seals, sea lions and other marine wildlife in their natural, pristine environment. Then, look to the shoreline for the resident eagles that live in the trees along the coast. Remember to bring warm clothes, waterproof shoes and, of course, your camera.
