The Saxman Native Village offers an opportunity to delve into the rich living culture of southeast Alaska's Native Americans. You'll want to be sure to bring your camera, as the village offers countless photo opportunities and your half-day adventure includes a number of immersive activities that deliver an authentic Alaskan experience. You'll learn from a local artist about handicrafts, Tlingit art and formline drawing, practiced by the indigenous peoples for centuries. You will design and paint your own Native ornament. A chef-led culinary demonstration utilizing locally sourced ingredients ties the heritage of the land to the plate and offers the opportunity to indulge in a three-course menu of Alaskan delicacies. You'll delight in a musical performance featuring traditional regalia and performed by the Cape Fox Dancers in the unique Beaver Clan House. Your local hosts will further highlight Tlingit customs on a guided walk through the cultural exhibits and totem park. Return to port with a deeper understanding of the people of The Great Land.
