Learn how to hunt and harvest scallops where tradition and sustainable fishing have led to the survival of callo de hacha, a rare species of scallop native to the Sea of Cortez. After a briefing, you'll climb into the boat and cruise to the shallow waters off the coast of Baja where you'll join a five-generation family of fishermen eager to share their artisanal trade. Then, you'll don your snorkel gear and the expert guide will show you how to pluck these tasty mollusks from the seabed or, if you prefer, enjoy snorkeling in the bay's pristine waters for an up-close view of the process. With your haul in hand, the boat will continue to El Mogote beach, where you can relax under shaded tents and savor the freshest "Catch of the Day" ceviche. On your way back to the pier, enjoy a short city tour of La Paz.
