Two exciting adventures await on this full-day excursion that makes the most of Costa Rica's incredibly natural beauty. Start the day with a ride back in time on the railroad that gave birth to the banana industry. The Atlantic Railroad was considered the Panama Canal of Costa Rica. Your quaint, open-air rail car journey includes stunning scenery and expert narration. Keep your camera handy, as it is not uncommon to sight black monkeys and two-toed sloths resting peacefully in the trees. This tour does not visit a banana plantation, but an explanation of the banana growing process is provided during the train ride. Next, settle in for a pontoon cruise along the Tortuguero Canals to discover the wetlands ecosystem and exotic fauna and flora from a different perspective. On the way back to the pier, the motorcoach will drive through the lush countryside, passing emblematic rural towns and villages. (Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.)
