Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

This entertaining half-day narrated drive and tram ride around Lisbon is a wonderful way for a first-time visitor to experience this vibrant city for the first time.

After meeting your guide at the pier, you will drive to Martim Moniz Square, where you will board your tram for a leisurely tour of Lisbon's famous seven hills. You will first pass the Se Cathedral, which sits in the heart of the Alfama district, and is the oldest church in town. Enjoy the Moorish architecture and delightful narrow streets that are unique to this historic district.

Your tour will pass the Parliament Building and Estrela Basilica and then past the 16th century Jeronimos Monastery, an awe-inspiring building that blends Moorish and Gothic styles, and on to the Monument to the Discoveries, which sits on the banks of the Tagus, and commemorates Portugal's maritime history. Shaped like a prow of a ship, this monument is hard to miss, and even harder to forget.

Then it's on to the four-story Belem Tower, a unique chalk-colored prison and fort that was built to defend the harbor and originally used as a lighthouse. It was declared a World Heritage site of interest by UNESCO, and is an exotic blend of Gothic, Renaissance, and Moorish architecture.

During the tram ride, you will also have the chance to try one of the city's local treats, a Pasteis de Nata de Belem, a creamy custard cup, and sample a glass of port wine.

Other sights of interest that your guide will be happy to point out to you, includes the Alto do Parque Belvedere, a beautiful park offering splendid views of the city, the Avenue of Liberty, Pombal Square, the Moorish style bullring and Rossio Square.

During your drive along the Tagus River, you will also pass by the 25th of April suspension bridge, which offers distant views of Christ the King monument, before ending the day at your ship, passing by Black Horse Square, also known as Commerce or Trade Square. If you wish to continue shopping, you may choose to remain in the town, and return to the ship later in the day.

Special Notes:

The tram ride is approximately one hour. The remainder of the tour is by motorcoach.
