Discover the charms of Livorno, the second-largest port in Tuscany. Keep your camera at the ready as you embark on a guided walking tour down Via Grande, one of Livorno's busiest streets-a vibrant mix of local activity. Cross both the Piazza Grande, for the 17th century Saint Francis Cathedral, and the Piazza della Repubblica, decorated with statues of the last dukes of Tuscany. In Piazza Micheli, you'll find the dramatic monument of the Four Moors. Arrive at the 19th century Central Market, and stop in to peruse its colorful stalls. Refresh with a gelato or a cappuccino then board a canal boat to see the city from a different vantage point. Explore Livorno's Venezia Nuova, or New Venice, district and glide past all the top sights. Conclude with enough time to walk around the area, shop for souvenirs or just relax at a café and people watch. Return to the ship.
Special Notes:
The boat is open so tour might be cancelled due to unfavorable weather of canal conditions.Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience. Please note that the market is closed on Sundays, you'll visit the Mascagni Terrace instead.
