Travel through the spectacular countryside of the Lofoten Islands and through the undersea tunnel to the idyllic Flakstad Church. Built in 1780 with woods imported from Russia, the church is an example of a cruciform design, or the shape of a cross. Then, it's off to Sund for a tour of the local museum that showcases the area's fishing history. Among the exhibits is the local blacksmith who forges wrought iron sculptures of the black and white seabird known as a cormorant. We continue towards Reine, which is one of the most idyllic and best preserved fishing villages in the Lofoten. Reine has been a commercial centre since 1743. Today tourism is important, and despite its remote location and its low population (307 inhabitants), many thousands of people visit annually. The largest weekly magazine in Norway, Allers, selected Reine as the most beautiful village in Norway in the late 1970s.After this, , lunch will be served in Å in one of the historical boathouses before returning to your ship in Gravdal.
