WHAT YOU VISIT
1873 Observatory
See Mazatlan from a different perspective with a ride on a funicular, a modern aerial cable car that glides up Cerro del Vigia to the 1873 Observatory. Originally built as a military outpost in 1873 to protect the city from marauding pirates, it's been restored to reflect the city's history, nature, and traditions. Upon reaching the top, a friendly and knowledgeable guide will lead you on a tour of its many attractions beginning with the Agaviary where you'll see over 30 species of cacti and agaves. The Museum offers a look at 19th century life while El Nido Sanctuary boasts 70 species of birds in their natural habitat. Finally, uncover the secrets of tequila with a lesson in the mezcal distillation process.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Awarded 2021 "Project of the Year" by Elevator World Magazine, the funicular rises 265 feet above sea level up the highest hill in the city. From this soaring perspective you can aim your lens at the stunning views of the city and the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean (and if the timing's right, you may see a passing whale).

REFRESHMENTS
Enjoy local beer or a soft drink while enjoying 360 views from the Sky High Bar.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Enjoy the short ride from the terminal past the ocean to the base of the funicular at Cerro del Vigia.

Special Notes:

Note: Tour includes steps over uneven, gravel pathways and inclined surfaces.
