See the highlights of Italy's southern gateway-from an ancient city's ruins to a breathtaking coastal town and a resort isle-on a full-day, small group adventure. Begin with a motorcoach ride to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pompeii. Along the way, stop at a cameo factory where artisans carve seashells into intricate pieces of jewelry. Then, your guide will escort you on a tour of the excavations that were once buried beneath the ashes when Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D. Next, visit the coastal town of Sorrento, overlooking the Bay of Naples, and enjoy lunch at a restaurant prepared with ingredients from the Campania region. After that, stroll down to the Sorrento pier for a photo opportunity. Continue on to Capri via hydrofoil/jet boat with a cable-car transfer for shopping or a visit to the Gardens of Augustus before returning to Naples by hydrofoil/jet boat, enjoying stunning views on your return to port.
