Venture outside the city to discover lush landscapes, rolling green hills and a peaceful nature reserve.
Your tour begins with a short drive to Parc Zoologique et Forestier, located in the lush green hills overlooking Noumea. Spot feathered friends, flora and fauna as you take a peaceful guided tour through this 85-acre nature reserve. At an elevation of 548 feet you'll enjoy the changing backdrop of ocean views in the distance as you wander along the well-marked walkways, viewing the ponds, lakes, native shrubs and abundant bird life along the way.
Spot a huge variety of wild and domestic animals, like the Roussette (fruit bat), the Notou pigeon, Parakeets and the rare Cagou - a flightless bird and a symbol of New Caledonia. Did you know the Cagou has a very unique call that is often mistaken for that of a barking dog?
