Walk through the heart of Oslo on a guided tour that showcases the city's most popular landmarks. Stroll down the charming streets to Oslo's City Hall, an architecturally designed modern landmark that not only houses the city council but an impressive art collection. A visit inside will acquaint you with the history of this more than 900-year old city. Continue passed two sites that pay homage to the city's theatrical heritage, the National Theater and the restored apartment of the great playwright Henrik Ibsen. Approach the dramatically situated Royal Palace and surrounding gardens, an elegant showpiece of neo-classic design. The wide main street of Oslo, known as Karl Johan is alive with activity close by you will see the sprawling University of Oslo, and the popular Grand Café, meeting point of the Bohemians in the 1890's. On your return, marvel at the impressive Parliament Building and the splendid medieval Akershus Fortress.
Special Notes:
Passengers must be able to walk approximately 2.5 miles, over even paved and cobblestone surfaces, with inclines involved, to reach the Akershus Castle. Low heeled, comfortable walking shoes and comfortable, loose clothing are recommended.Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
This tour will operate in all weather conditions, so participants should take appropriate weather gear with them.
If the City Hall is closed for any unexpected official function, passengers will walk to the New Opera house and the Opera House roof for a photo stop.
