Akershus Castle and Fortress - In 1299, King Hakon V ordered the construction of this imposing fortification to defend the headland, harbor and city of Oslo. The battlements have been put to the test a number of times through the years by invading forces. In the 17th century, the fortress was modernized and converted into a royal residence.
Oslo City Hall - This imposing brick structure serves as the municipal center while also hosting high-profile events like the annual Nobel Peace Prize ceremony held each December. The eastern tower features a set of 49 bells.

National Theater - In the land of legendary playwright Henrik Ibsen, theater is a favorite pastime. Throughout the year, this grand facility stages local productions and hosts touring companies from around the world.

Royal Palace - Surrounded by verdant rolling parkland, this magnificent estate has served as the home of Norwegian monarchs since the early 19th century.
