Grab your binoculars, wear good walking shoes and set off to discover a protected sanctuary where wildlife and birdlife thrive in a safe haven. Your three-hour adventure begins with a short motorcoach ride followed by a 15-minute cruise to Kaipupu Sanctuary. Located on a peninsula, the sanctuary is protected by a predator-proof fence, and the birdlife and wildlife here are flourishing. An army of local volunteers and generous donations helped to create this fascinating outdoor environment. Upon arrival at the jetty, set off on a guided, two-mile track walk. Your guide will point out traps and tunnels designed to safely eliminate any predators. As you walk, you'll see and hear the abundant indigenous birdlife and spot a variety of shorebirds that perch along the rocky coastline. Your walk takes you through a mature stand of beech forest to a scenic viewpoint for beautiful photographs. Return to port at the conclusion of this lovely day.
