A true Icelandic adventure awaits when you take to the sparkling waters of Thingvellir National Park on an unforgettable snorkeling excursion. Your snorkeling gear is included but please bring outdoor clothing and warm socks. This experience is suitable for beginners, as a guide will be on hand to assist. Travel via motorcoach from Reykjavik on an approximately 45-minute drive to the designated UNESCO national park, where you'll visit the Silfra fissure, a deep cleft formed when the two plates that separate Europe and North America drifted apart. Slip on a provided dry suit and snorkel gear and marvel at the water's clarity, offering up to 100 meters of visibility, as you float along on the gentle current. Frequently rated as one of the world's top dive sites, Silfra's underwater ecosystem, algae and rock formations make for dramatic photographs. After an hour of snorkeling, relax on the drive back to port.
Special Notes:
All participants must sign a medical waiver. If the participant does not meet all requirements a physician approval is required. Please request a copy of this waiver prior to boarding your cruise. Final count / cancelation must be sent to TO one week prior to call. Maximum 6 persons per guide.Guest must be comfortable in water, be physically fit, be ready to wear tight and constricting dry suit, not be pregnant. Minimum age 14 is years; maximum age is 60 years. Guests over the age of 60 (despite if they have experience or not) are REQUIRED to get a physician's clean bill of health in order to participate on this tour. Participants must walk in full gear for up to 350 yards. Your head and hands are exposed to the 36° F (2° C) water through a semi-insulated material. Part of your face is not covered by the hood and comes in direct contact with the water. There is a slight current in Silfra; participants must be able to swim against it during the last part of the tour.).
We recommend wearing long thermal underwear and a couple pairs of thick wool socks as a base layer under the dry suit. If you use glasses, wear contacts. For the time that you are not in the water, please be sure to bring warm outdoor clothing, including a hat and gloves.
Please note that there are no changing facilities at Silfra.
