A beloved oasis of calm, the Japanese Tea Garden beckons with peace and tranquility. Explore it at your leisure as part of a small group. Originally built as part of the 1894 Midwinter Fair, the garden's arrangement of drum bridge, pagodas, stone lanterns, stepping stone paths, native Japanese plants, serene koi ponds and a Zen garden is an exercise in natural harmony. From the pier, it's just a short drive to Golden State Park, home to over 1,000 acres of museums, meandering paths, green expanses, and the Japanese Tea Garden. Once you disembark, you'll have two hours to discover the garden's charms on your own. Among the garden's must-see highlights is the five-storied Treasure Tower pagoda, the arched pedestrian Drum Bridge, and a rock garden embellished with Japanese maples, pines, cypresses and cherry trees. A traditional cup of matcha green tea served with a sweet treat concludes this relaxing adventure.
