No tour of Santa Barbara is complete without a stop at the majestic Santa Barbara mission, founded in 1786. Setting this excursion apart are the personal connections you'll make throughout the day. Dockside you'll be greeted with local stories by a tour greeter who has in-depth knowledge of the local cultural history. You'll be greeted by a Franciscan friar or local Parish leader, then escorted through the mission's museum, chapel and historic cemetery, where many of the city's founders are interred. You may also download an app that guides an exterior tour. It can be saved on your personal device as a memento. Your narrated drive will take in such landmarks as the Santa Barbara Courthouse, the Presidio, the Theater District and the Spanish and Moorish style architecture of the city known as the American Riviera.
