Renowned naturalists and an exploration of magnificent wildlife in six ecosystems - ocean, estuary, river, lake, muskeg and rainforest - await in Haines. A high-speed ferry takes you along North America's longest and deepest fjord to Haines, where you'll board an expedition bus and follow the route of returning salmon along the fertile Chilkoot River. This valley, nestled between rugged glaciers and snowcapped peaks, is home to generations of brown bears, bald eagles, mountain goats, river otters, salmon and numerous birds. View wildlife up close through powerful spotting scopes. Your next stop is a fish weir where technicians count migrating salmon. On the shore of a mountain lake, the living tapestry of the rainforest comes alive on a refreshing nature walk beneath magnificent trees and through an ancient muskeg. Your tour concludes with a narrated drive through downtown Haines and historic Fort Seward before returning to Skagway via ferry.
