See the beauty, splendor and incredible variety of Malta through the eyes of a child on this exceptional full-day Discovery Family adventure sure to make memories that will last a lifetime.

Begin with a comfortable motorcoach tour that orients you to the highlights of Malta. Set off for the old historic city of Vittoriosa (also called Birgu), nestled on the south side of the Grand Harbor. Vittoriosa was the first home of the knights when they arrived in the early 1500s and still displays many architectural triumphs, including the Roman baroque church of St. Lawrence that is home to an observation tower that was used during the siege of 1565.

From here, it's on to Marsaxlokk, a charming Maltese fishing village where colorful boats bob in the water. The area is home to 70% of the fishing fleets of Malta, so it bustles with activity. The kids will enjoy watching the fishermen mend their nets and paint and ready their boats.

Next up, drive through a series of quaint villages before arriving at the stunning Blue Grotto, a geological phenomenon of sea caves carved into the jagged coastline and crowned with a natural rock arch over the deep blue water. Older kids will get a kick out of learning that, in 2001, Brad Pitt was on location here when filming a scene for the film Troy.

Continue on through the town of Girgenti, home of the prime minister's summer residence, and head up to dramatic Dingli Cliffs, Malta's highest point at 830 feet above sea level.

Continue through the town of Rabat, where you'll find the Catacombs of St. Paul and St. Agatha created in Roman times to bury the dead and Mdina, Malta's old capital city, which is tucked behind fortification walls.

A stop in the town of Mosta is an opportunity to view its famous church, with the third-largest unsupported dome in the world. Young and old alike will marvel at the fact that this church, known as the Rotunda of St. Marija Assunta, was hit by a bomb during World War II that failed to explode. A replica bomb can be found here as a memorial to this miraculous event.

After your panoramic tour, it's time for a change of pace at the authentic Maltese village of Siggiewi, called The Limestone Heritage Park and Gardens. It is a former quarry that has been transformed into an award-winning family tourist attraction immersing guests in the islands' eclectic 22,000,000 years of history. Children will love the animal park with goats, swans, exotic birds and more. You can also watch as skilled sculptors guide you through the process of producing your own original limestone sculpture to take home.

There is also a fragrant citrus garden lush with lemon and orange trees, the perfect setting for learning how to make homemade limoncello and fresh-squeezed lemonade. After the demonstration, chilled limoncello shots for the adults and freshly squeezed lemonade for the kids will be served. For a change of "taste," you can also participate in an olive tasting. Lunch is served in this lovely setting.

At the conclusion of this memorable day, you'll welcome the opportunity to rest on the ride back to port.
