Peggy Guggenheim Collection
Housed inside the 18th century Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, the personal collection of American heiress Peggy Guggenheim includes major works of Cubism, Futurism, Metaphysical painting, European abstraction, avant-garde sculpture, Surrealism, and American Abstract Expressionism, by some of the greatest artists of the 20th century. A museum guide will lead you through the exhibits and explain the late heiress' exceptional collection of abstract and surrealist masterpieces by Pablo Picasso, Alexander Calder, Jackson Pollack, Max Ernst, Paul Klee, Marc Chagall and Salvador Dalí.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
After the guided visit, you'll have some free time to stroll in the beautiful garden, which is also graced with various works of art and sculptures. In a corner of the garden, you'll find a plaque marking the spot where Peggy Guggenheim's ashes are buried.
SHOPPING
If time allows, you can visit the gift shops that feature items inspired by her collection and 20th century art.
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
As your motor launch travels along the Giudecca Canal, you'll cruise past the Redeemer Church by Palladio and Zitelle Church, which sit on Giudecca Island.
